ABSTRACT
Introduction: the functions of address in literary texts are currently insufficiently researched. Vocatives are an important stylistic resource of poetic syntax. Their main purpose is to establish contact, therefore, authors whose thinking is characterized by dialogism often use them. In this regard, relevant is the study of the role of address in the communicative aspect. The article fits into the complex of studies of the language and style of the Finno-Ugric literary text.
Objective: to identify and describe the communicative functions of address in the lyrical works by A. Tarkhanov.
Research materials: poetic works by Andrey Tarkhanov of the 1972–2001, included in the collection “Confessions of the Pagan”.
Results and novelty of the research: for the first time in the work, the references in the lyrical works of the Mansi poet A. Tarkhanov are analyzed in a communicative aspect. Through a comprehensive analysis, it was found that vocatives perform nominative and vocative, emotive, emotive-characterizing, and appellative functions. Addresses are used to introduce the main topic, name the addressee, to formalize the conclusions of the previous reflection, to convey emotions and motivation. The types of addresses and their language implementation are described. The author mainly addresses animate non-specific interlocutors, addressees from the natural world. The author uses a variety of language means to nominate them. In the author’s artistic system, addresses enhance communication, serve as a verbal mean of expressiveness and emotionality.
