Exhibition cartographic exhibits of Tobolsk provincial Museum in the late XIX – early XX century

Abstract. For the first time on the basis of archival and published sources, the authors identified, analyzed and classified the complex of cartographic documents, compiled by the Tobolsk provincial Museum for agricultural and handicraft and industrial exhibition in the town of Kurgan of Tobolsk province (1895), the Exposition Universelle (1900) and the First West-Siberian exhibition in the town of Omsk (1911). The article deals with the preparation of exhibits for upcoming exhibitions, the types and content of cartographic materials. Certain scientific work of employees and activists of the Museum predated to creation of maps, cartograms and cartodiagrams. The provincial agronomist, conservator of the Museum N. L. Skalozubov carried out the preparation of cartographic materials. Significant contribution to creation of maps of the North of Tobolsk province was made by the head of Samarovo forestry A. A. Dunin-Gorkavich. Cartographic documents reflected the state of natural resources, the degree of development of forests in the Northern counties, the level of development and changes in agriculture of the Southern counties, the state of industry and transport of the Tobolsk province in the late XIX – early XX century. The maps expanded information capabilities of the exhibited items and introduced with innovations in industry and agriculture. Subsequently, some cartographic documents were published in the capital and local print houses.
