ABSTRACT
Introduction: this article is devoted to a comparative analysis of poetic images of the small homeland in the works of two poets Vladimir Mazin (Yugra, Russia) and Omor Sultanov (People’s Poet of the Kyrgyz Republic), revealing common features and characteristics
of their artistic perceptions. For both authors, their native land (the village of Laryak for V. Mazin and the village of Tosor for O. Sultanov) serves not only as a place of birth but also as a source of creative inspiration, a key motif that initiates the poetic process.
Objective: to explore and describe the characteristics with which the poets V. Mazin and O. Sultanov present the image of the small homeland. To this end, a comparative study will be conducted, focusing on three key themes: the image of the home and village, the image
of native nature, and the image of the mother.
Research materials: poems by Vladimir Mazin from the book “The Harbor of Joys and Sorrows” and Omor Sultanov from the publication entitled “Anthology of Kyrgyz Literature: Publicistic Lyrics of the Middle of XX – early XXI Centuries in the Original and Translations: Book 1. Omor Sultanov”.
Results and novelty of the research: this work is notable for its first comprehensive comparative study of the poetics of small homeland of Yugra and Kyrgyz poets, taking into account the influence of Russian-language linguistic culture. Particular attention is paid to the role of the poets themselves as guardians and exponents of regional and national identity. Despite the overlapping of their main themes (village, natural environment, and the image of the mother), the poets create distinctly colored worldviews. In V. Mazin’s works, Laryak appears as a symbol of loss and a break with history, while in O. Sultanov’s poems, Tosor and Issyk-Kul embody the strength of spirit that grows from unity with the land and ancestors. These findings can be used to develop curricula on national and regional literature, intercultural communication and translation.
