Abstract: The problem of urban text never has been the subject of close attention in Finno-Ugric literature. But the analysis of the works of the Khanty writers demonstrate that the image of the city and the urban text deserve more careful study. We have already noted that most works with meta-texts in the Khanty prose belongs to E.D. Aipin. Creating the urban text Khanty writer uses attribution of the topos, experimenting with space, recreates the city through the personal experiences of the characters. The artist of the word continues it in the story «River in January, or Rio de Janeiro» forming the image of the Brazilian metropolis. Acquaintance with different districts of the city, description of the famous beaches and hotels is complemented by the sounds of samba and the ocean. The specificity of the food culture and features of character of city dwellers as well as a list of attractions are the touches to the portrait of a multifaceted and multinational Rio de Janeiro. A reference to Christian images, parallels with Siberia in the description of the city, the complex spatial organization of urban space in the literary text indicate the style of the writer. They help the author in the formation of the urban code.
