The image of the people in the creative work of Yuvan Shestalov

Abstract:Yuvan Shestalov in his works tells about the story of the Mansi, represents the life and customs of the people, their beliefs, occupations and customs, its moral character. The image of the people throughout the creative activity has a special place for the writer. The main object of his thought is a man who appears in the images of various characters describing the collective image of the people. The story «When the Sun Rocked Me» (1972) which primarily is as an encyclopedia of national life, Yuri Shestalov showed the importance of the great historical turn in the fate of the people, honestly and fairly depicting public reality: the various periods of life of all people, aspirations and expectations of the people. The image of Solval is a general image of the Mansi people. Like all relatives the hero has grown up surrounded by tales, riddles, fairy nature, hunting, and fishing. In childhood he also was rocked by the sun. The writer masterfully and artfully describes the state of mind of his hero, the inner world of yesterday’s laborer – hunter and fisherman, the taiga man. Solval as the communist devoted his life to the class struggle, construction of socialism, the organization of collective farms in the North, defence the motherland from the Nazis. In parallel with modern theme and through the image of Solval Yu. Shestalov represented the theme of the past.
