Abstract. The article is devoted to the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Ob-Ugric Institute of Applied Researches and Development (OUIARD). The authors presented the main directions of activities of the Institute and contribution of its employees in the science, preservation and development of languages, folklore and culture of the indigenous peoples of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra at the present stage. The article reveals distinctive features of this historical stage in the development of scientific institution. The Institute remains true to the goals and objectives under which it was created in 1991. Its staff in the light of the modern realities of our time continues traditions, which were established during the formation of the Institute. Directions of activity of the Institute are shown through the activity of its departments, subdivisions, implementation of research, educational and informational projects, and publishing of scientific, reference, educational and methodical literature. The article briefly describes the relationships of the Institute with leading scientific institutions of Russia and Western Europe, gives information about its publishing activity, and demonstrates the role of the staff in the reproduction of the culture of the Ob-Ugric peoples. Problematics of the article also touches on not only the recent past of the Institute, its modern present, but also indirectly outlines the prospects for future scientific developments.
