Abstract. The article sets the imagotype of Paris, formed in Russian travelogues of the fi rst third of the ХIХ century. The article provides the analysis and comparison of the mental image of the French capital, created by «Letters of a Russian Traveler» of N.M. Karamzin and supplemented by «Walk abroad» of P.I. Sumarokov and «Paris letters» of P.V. Annenkov.
