Semantic structure of words designating white color in the Khanty language

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article is devoted to identification of the words designating white color in the Khanty language. Among adjectives of the Khanty language a quite extensive lexical-semantic group uniting the words with a meaning of color is distinguished. These are the words with a meaning of color and the words or phrases describing a color spectrum which reveals many ethnographic and other specific features of life the Khanty people.
Objective: to present the complex description of semantic structure and word-formation opportunities of a coloronym «white» as well as to identify a spectrum of white color in the Khanty language.
Research materials: the main source of the article is made by us the card index of the words of the Shuryshkar and Uralic dialects presenting white color in the Khanty language. The collected card index consists of the samples of speech of the informants, examples from folklore texts and bilingual dictionaries.
Results and novelty of the research: introduction to science of the considerable list of the new lexical units presenting white color and its shades was the result of the research. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that for the first time in our work we attempted to describe all spectrum of white color in the Khanty language that allows revealing semantic and word-formation features of this group of words. Complex and system study of the coloronyms in the Khanty language never have been made before.
