ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article deals with the theme of Finland in the lyrics of Vadim Gardner, a representative of the Finnish branch of Russian emigration of the first wave. His poetic identity stems from the synthesis of symbolism
and acmeism, which gives his lyrics at the same time features of religiosity and culture. The Finnish theme, which has become one of Gardner’s main themes, is revealed by him in an emigrant context, in comparison with the left homeland, as a result of which the latter acquires distinct nostalgic features. A special combination of conflicting traditions in Gardner’s lyrics gives reason to speak of a new quality of his acmeistic poetics in the era following acmeism.
Objective: to analyze postacmeistic poetics in the lyrics of Vadim Gardner in the aspect of Finnish theme.
Research materials: three collections of poetry with dominating Finnish theme.
Results and novelty of the research: Gardner’s lyrics demonstrate a synthesis of the symbolist and acmeistic traditions, and in this symbiosis the leading position is occupied by the acmeistic vision of reality. An in-depth
analysis of the Gardner’s poems allowed us to conclude that, being in acmeistical acceptance of the world in its entirety and complexity, the poet does not refuse the possibility of its spiritual cognition. From our point of view,
this is the specificity of the existence of acmeism in the «non-acmeistic era». The scientific novelty of the research is to examine the poetry of V. Gardner from a postacmeistic position, which has not yet been the subject of scientific research. For the first time we reveal the peculiarities of the poetics of the author in connection with the continuation of the acmeist traditions in emigration, in conditions of separation from the native cultural soil, on the material of the Finnish theme. In the image of Finland as a special geographical space, we noted the ekphrasis nature of images, emphasized visuality in the perception of pictures of surrounding reality. The very image of the state evolves with the poet, marking a complex attitude towards it during the period of forced residence on the foreign land.
Key words: V. Gardner, Finnish branch of the Russian emigration of the first wave, postacmeistic poetics, image of Finland.
