ABSTRACT
Introduction: in the Erzya language, the direct object is conveyed by different ways. There is no consensus on the morphological marking and structure of the direct object suffixes in grammatical forms. In the process of development in the Mordovian languages, the formal signs of the accusative *-m and the genitive *-n leveled in favor of -ń. The absence of a separate morphological marker of the accusative in the case paradigm of the Mordovian languages has led to the fact that the meaning of the direct object is most often associated with the genitive. However, in the Erzya dialect area we have fixed grammatical forms where marking of the accusative occurs is with the suffix -½.
Objective: to analyze and describe the grammatical forms of the singular accusative of definite declension of a noun and personal pronouns of the 2nd and 3rd person singular, in which the accusative case is marked with the suffix -½.
Research materials: field materials collected by the authors during dialectological expeditions both on the territory of the Republic of Mordovia and in the places of compact residence of the Erzya people in the Volga Region and the Southern Urals, as well as dialect materials of the Dictionary Room of the Mordovian State University.
Results and novelty of the research: in the dialect accusative case suffix -ś½ of the definite declension, the element -ś- is most often considered as an inflectional suffix, and the element -½ as a definiteness morpheme. As a result of the analysis, it was revealed that in the suffix -ś½ the component -ś- is a definiteness morpheme of the singular, as in the nominative case, and the component -½ is the suffix of the direct object. In the Erzya dialects, the direct object marker -½ is also traced in the genitive-accusative forms of personal pronouns toń½ ’your’, ’you’, sonz4½ ’his’. In these word forms, the -½ component initially denoted only the object semantics. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that for the first time in the Erzya dialect area in the case forms of the singular of the definite declension of a noun and personal pronouns of the 2nd and 3rd person singular, the accusative case
marker -½ is distinguished.
Key words: Erzya language, grammatical forms, genitive, accusative, direct object, definiteness morpheme, personal pronouns.
