ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article considers the categories of person and the number of personal pronouns of the 1st and 2nd person in the Ob-Ugric languages. The presence / absence of the category inclusive of personal pronouns in the Khanty and Mansi languages is checked. To date, comparative work on the description of personal pronouns on the material of the Khanty and Mansi languages has not been carried out.
Objective: to reveal the functional and mantic potential of the category of person and the number of personal pronouns of the first and second person of the Ob-Ugric languages.
Research materials: examples with personal pronouns of the 1st and 2nd person of the Khanty (Kazym dialect) and Mansi languages, extracted from the Khanty and Mansi texts, as well as the author’s field materials.
Results and novelty of the research: for the first time, on the material of the Khanty and Mansi languages, the semantics of the category of person and the number of personal pronouns of the 1st and 2nd person are considered. The meanings and functions of these pronominal units are determined. The analysis revealed that the pronouns of the 1st person of dual and plural numbers are used in the function of inclusive. The semantics of expressions with pronominal words used in the Khanty language is described for the first time. The results of the research can be used in comparison of the materials of related and different-structured languages, for writing textbooks and in teaching the Khanty and Mansi languages.
Key words: personal pronouns, Khanty language, Mansi language, semantics, functions, person, number, inclusive, exclusive
Acknowledgments: the author expresses the gratitude to the anonymous reviewers and all informants who are native speakers of the Khanty and Mansi languages.
