ABSTRACT
Introduction: house spirits are an important element of mythological representations that create the picture of the Komi world. The article is devoted to the linguistic analysis of dialect names of bathhouse inhabitants in the Komi language.
Objective: to carry out semantic and motivational analysis of lexical dialect units in the Komi-Zyryan language nominating bathhouse spirits.
Research materials: dictionaries (dialect and etimological dictionaries of the Komi-Zyryan language), articles on the mythology and folklore of the Komi, folklore collections, lexicographic sources of other Finno-Ugric languages.
Results and novelty of the research: for the first time, the work studies the names of the mythical inhabitants of a bathhouse in the Komi-Zyryan language in the onomasiological aspect. That enabled the identification of the features of the bathhouse spirit reflected in their names, which are relevant to native speakers. The methods and lexico-semantic models of nomination of a host and a hostess bathhouse spirits close in their functions and location are revealed. The comparison of Komi-Zyryan names of the bathhouse demons with correlated nominative units in closely related Permian languages has been carried out. It can be stated that the main feature motivating the names of the bathhouse spirits in the Komi-Zyryan language is the locative characteristic of a mythological character.
