ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article is devoted to the analysis of the Glazov Alphabet’s case system of 1847. Each member of the paradigmatic series is described in comparison with literary forms. If necessary, the data of modern Udmurt dialects are given.
Objective: to reveal the characteristics of the analyzed source’s case system in comparison with modern literary norms.
Research materials: the texts of the Glazov Alphabet of 1847.
Results and novelty of the research: the research presents the detailed description of the first Udmurt Alphabet’s case system in the Glazov dialect for the first time. As a result of the analysis, only one specific characteristic was revealed through which the language of the source differs from the norms of the modern literary language, namely, the functioning of the forms of approximate illative marked with the indicator -n'e/-ne. At the same time, the recorded feature confirms the dialect basis of the monument indicated on the cover of the book, since it is an important distinguishing characteristic of the Northern Udmurt dialects which also include the Glazov dialect. The comparison of the monument with the Glazov Gospels of 1847 indicates the unity of these sources’ case systems, although at the level of spelling the Alphabet is different from the rest of the written monuments.
Key words: Udmurt language, Udmurt dialects, written monuments, Alphabet, case system, morphological indicators
