ABSTRACT
Introduction: the corpus of vocabulary related to the traditional culture of the Khanty people and fixed as borrowings in Russian written sources of 1870-1930s is studied.
Objective: to identify and consider in thematic and etymological aspects borrowings related to the work and household activities of the Khanty people.
Research materials: 60 Russian borrowing lexemes fixed in the Russian sources and related to the traditional culture of the Khanty people: 46 lexemes mastered by the Russian language and 14 words in the status of occasional borrowings.
Results and novelty of the research: the article systematizes for the first time the borrowed vocabulary associated with the traditional culture of the Khanty people, fixed in the Russian written sources of 1870-1930s, in the pre-written period of the Khanty language. Quantitative parameters of the corpus are given, all graphical variants of the considered borrowings are given in alphabetical order within the identified individual thematic groups and subgroups:
Household vocabulary: 1) food; 2) clothing, shoes, jewelry; 3) names of household items; 4) names of tools.
Industrial vocabulary: 1) devices for fishing, details of gear; 2) traps for birds and animals; 3) additional industrial devices; 4) names of objects related to movement in space.
As a result, it was established that Russian lexemes are etymologically one-word, retain the direct meaning of the etymon words. Russian lexical system includes borrowings related to household and labor activities inherent to the Khanty and Russian peoples in the territory of interethnic contacts along the Ob River: the use of tools and products of crafts, tools, utensils, etc. 16 lexemes with an obvious status of borrowing in Russian usage were identified as an addition to Russian dialect data in the dictionary of V. Steinitz. Among the mastered borrowings, 19 lexemes are recorded in the dictionary of V. I. Dahl.
Key words: Russian written sources, Khanty vocabulary, Russian borrowings, thematic groups, etymology, new data for dictionaries
