Introduction: the article is devoted to the study of the epistle genre in the work of the Erzya poetess Marina Slugina. The subject of the research is the thematic, motif and figurative complexes of her lyrical texts, transformational changes in the genre model of the epistle in them.
Objective: to reveal the artistic features of M. Slugina’s epistles; to determine their thematic, motif and figurative structures; to trace the deformation of the genre features of the epistle in the poetess’s works.
Research materials: the epistles by M. Slugina from the collection “Tyust” (“The Shades”).
Results and novelty of the research: as a result of the study, we come to the conclusion that in the poetic system of M. Slugina various structural and thematic groups of the epistle are presented - addressed to a specific, generalized or conditional person. The addressees are famous poets, representatives of culture, public figures and organizations, close people, familiar peoples, republican newspaper, national culture, Erzya language. The key genre function of address, greeting, wish, request is supplemented in them by a specific communicative situation aimed at actualizing the problem of national identity, preservation of the ethno-cultural code, native language, moral and ethical issues, comprehension of complex existential categories. In the works by M. Slugina, a general trend for modern Russian poetry can be traced - the transformation of the genre model of the epistle, the shift of its characteristic features, which is expressed in the opening of the content structure of the text due to the expansion of the problem-thematic content, the deformation of the communicative scheme “me - you”, varying the addressee. Signs of an ode, a poetic prayer, an epitaph, a hymn, a poem of an intimate, philosophical, civic orientation, a trend to dramatization of lyrical discourse are revealed in the style of her epistles. The scientific novelty of the article is determined by the fact that for the first time the epistles by M. Slugina become the object of scientific reflection and are introduced into the context of Finno-Ugric literary criticism.
