ABSTRACT
Introduction: the reduplicated units, the structures of which are reduplication of words of different categories, are widely used in the Erzya literary language and its dialects. Within the reduplicative, as a rule, words of one part of speech are combined, but there may be exceptions. The process of combining components into one whole has taken place at various stages of the language development. At present, some of these words have lost the ability to fall into independent lexical units. There is a need for their closer examination, since in the Erzya language they include not only cases of complete or partial reduplication of the same words, but also alliterating words. Or they are most often referred to a group of alliterating words. The relevance of this study is determined by the insufficient study of these units in Mordovian linguistics and the lack of a
comprehensive analysis of reduplicatives.
Objective: characteristics of structural types of reduplicated words and their semantic groups in the Erzya language.
Research materials: the works by Erzya writers A. Arapov, K. Abramov, A. Doronin, A. Kutorkin, Nuyan Vidyaz, as well as lexicographic and dialectal materials.
Results and novelty of the research: the article for the first time presents a comprehensive analysis of reduplicated words in the Erzya language. It was found that structurally reduplication can be complete (exact reduplication of the same component), incomplete or partial (partial reduplication of a reduplicant), and divergent (with a change in the sound composition of a reduplicant). In addition, there are cases of complicated reduplication, when one or another component has an additional affix in its composition. Such forms have different semantic possibilities: the expression of disjunctive and collective plurality, amplification, increase, superiority, repeatability, and multiplicity. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that for the first time the structural characteristics of reduplicated words and their meanings are studied in the Erzya language.
Key words: Erzya language, reduplication, repeatability, distribution, quantity
