ABSTRACT
Introduction: characteristic feature of spontaneous speech is the disruption of the smooth deployment of speech flow, as well as the use of various discursive units. The article considers the discursive word taymi, functioning in the Izhma dialect of the Komi language.
Objective: to identify and describe the peculiarities of use and functional and grammatical properties of the word taymi in modern Komi speech.
Research materials: audio and video recordings contained in the Komi Media Library of the Interregional Laboratory for Information Support of the Functioning of Finno-Ugric Languages, dialect dictionaries, corpus of examples from native speakers of the Izhma dialect of the Komi language.
Results and novelty of the research: the article analyzes for the first time the peculiarities of the use and functional and grammatical properties of the discursive word taymi. It has been established that the word taymi, which has a pronominal stem, is a universal discourse marker that functions in spontaneous speech in the following functions: 1) marker of preparative substitution (placeholder); 2) hesitation searching; 3) euphemistic. In the function of placeholder and euphemistic function, taymi acts as a coordinated marker duplicating the grammatical design of the deferred component; in the hesitation searching function as an incoordinate marker. It has been revealed that taymi can be used in parallel with the discursive word myike in the same contexts, while within the dialect they most likely differ in productivity.
Key words: Komi language, Izhma dialect, oral speech, discursive markers, hesitation, preparative substitution (placeholder), euphemism
