Artistic function of ekphrasis in the novel by Ye. D. Aypin “In Search of the Primordial Land”

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article presents the experience of intermedial analysis of the novel by Ye. D. Aypin “In Search of the Primordial Land” through a comprehensive description of the system of ekphrastic descriptions, actualized in the text of the work and going back to the paintings of the famous Yugra artist G. S. Rayshev.
Objective: to trace the mechanisms and results of the creative interaction of literature and painting as modeling systems that are different in nature; to identify the artistic function of ekphrasis in the novel “In Search of the Primordial Land”.
Research materials: the novel “In Search of the Primordial Land” in the 2019 edition; paintings by G. S. Raishev.
Results and novelty of the research: during the study, it was possible to reveal that ekphrasis in the novel “In Search of the Primordial Land” plays a key plot-forming role, because the general logic of its plot development and the main events indicated in the title of the work are verbally visualized and filled with specific content through the main cycle of ekphrastic manifestations referring a reader to the creative work of G. S. Rayshev. The scientific novelty of the study is due to the fact that such an experience of intermedial analysis of the novel by E. D. Aypin was undertaken in scientific practice for the first time.
