ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article is devoted to the study of the artistic originality of the lyrical cycles of travels in the works of V. Gadaev. The analyzed scientific problem fits into the complex of studies of domestic literary criticism concerning the issues of genre synthesis. The subject of the analysis is the problem-thematic and compositional features of the lyrical cycles of travels of V. Gadaev.
Objective: to identify the poetic features of the lyrical cycles of travels in the works of the modern poet of Mordovia V. Gadaev.
Research materials: travel cycles written by V. Gadaev: “The Crimean Paradise”, “The Black Sea”, “Hills and Castles” and “In Poland”.
Results and novelty of the research: today in Russian-speaking poetry of Mordovia the lyrical travel cycle is becoming one of the significant forms reflecting the main trends of the modern poetic process. In the works of V. Gadaev a complex compositional structure of cycles marked by the presence of a real geographical route, the image of a traveler, comprehending the cultural and historical atmosphere of the visited country/city, reflects the system of the author’s worldview. The opposition “the native – the foreign” becomes the plot-forming beginning of his works, where the image of the Mordovian region
turns out to be the semantic artistic center. Continuing the traditions of Russian classical poetry, V. Gadaev creates lyrical travel cycles about Crimea, in which not only its cultural, historical and geographical space is mythologized, but also the Cimmerian myth is reinterpreted, where the image of a small motherland, Mordovia, is projected onto Voloshin’s image of Koktebel. The distinctive feature of the cycles of travels inspired by the trips to European countries is the comprehension not of the specific sights of countries, but of its historical past; the motif of memory, retrospection does not allow the herotraveler to fully enjoy the modern cultural and historical image of the country. In the cycle devoted to the East, the dominant role of the travel route is lost: the “Eastern” dominant becomes a mean of finding both the spiritual path of the lyrical hero and the projection on the understanding of the role of a working man in the history of his country.
Key words: V. Gadaev, Mordovian poetry, genre synthesis, lyrical travel cycle, travelogue, traveler’s image, lyrical motif
