ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article is an overview of the historical and literary process of the period of the origin and development of fiction in the territory of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra.
Objective: to reconstruct the period of emergence and development of the literary process in Ostyako-Vogulsk in the 1930s.
Research materials: the handwritten journal “Iskra”; poetry texts and informational notes of literary content published between 1932 and 1939.
Results and novelty of the research: the article argues that the emergence of literature in the Middle Ob region was a consequence of the development of a written language by the indigenous ethnic groups. The regional newspaper “Khanty-Manchi Shop (Shoi)” /
“Ostyako-Vogulskaya Pravda” became the primary publication platform for the early artistic endeavors of Yugra writers. The Ostyako-Vogul National Pedagogical School played a key role in stimulating literary creativity among the Ob Ugrians. In the 1930s, students and
faculty there published the handwritten journals “Iskra” and “Soviet North”. A “Circle of National Creativity” also functioned, where young authors developed their poetic and translation skills. As a result, those who laid the foundations of Khanty and Mansi literatures left
this creative team: M. Vakhrusheva, M. Kazantsev, G. Lazarev, K. Posokhov, N. Sveshnikov, D. Tebetev, and others. The novelty of the study is due to the introduction into scientific circulation of previously unpublished and little-known materials.
