Abstract. Introduction: The article is devoted to the actual in conditions of modern Finno-Ugric philology theme of an urban text. The subject of analysis is the image of the cities of Western Siberia in the works of Khanty poets. Objective: the author aims to reveal the image of the city in Khanty poetry and to study the formation of the
urban code in the Khanty literature. Research materials: the bases of the research are the historical-cultural and comparative methods, as well as modern approaches to literary analysis of the literary text. Results and novelty: Khanty poetry is a distinctive and quite unexplored phenomenon. Turning to the issue of metatext, we saw that there is the reception of the topos in the artistic work of Khanty poets. The analysis of poetic texts has shown that the poets M.I. Shulgin, R.P. Rugin, V.P. Longortova create the image of the city in the poems, where cities of Western Siberia appear much more frequently than toposes located in other territories of Russia. Such precedence is understandable: all the poets have lived or live in the territory of the Khanty- Mansiysk and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs. Way of coding of the toposes in the poetry is also different. Cities of Yugra are shown in the context of sociocultural transformations of the industrial development of the territory. Cities of Yamal are shown in the context of their geographical features and etymological specificity of toponymy. Interpretation of the city through its history is becoming a common marker of West-Siberian cities in Khanty poetry, as well as a sense of love and confidence in the bright future of the topos.
Key words: Khanty poetry, the image of the city, city text, urban code, Western Siberia, Yugra. For citation: Kosintseva E.V.
