Abstract.Khanty poets M.I. Shulgin, V.S. Voldin, R.P. Rugin, M.K. Vagatova, not separating them from the folk culture, turned to the native speech, trying to realize the greatness of the language. Thinking over the concept of «language / speech», the poets talk about the qualitative characteristics of speech, consider its functionality. Analysis of the literary texts shows that this concept fi ts well in the civil-patriotic lyrics of Khanty poets and became one of the semantic fi elds of the concept Native land.
