ABSTRACT
Introduction: the problem of «a man and history» in modern Mordovian prose requires a multi-aspect scrupulous study, because it allows not only to reveal the original creative preferences and aesthetic concepts, but also to reveal the philosophical meaning of the triad «past – present – future». The problems actualized in the article fit into the context of the analytical field of modern Finno-Ugric literary criticism. The object of the research is the specificity of artistic understanding of history of the state, the construction of the relationship between the world order and a personality in the early 1930s in the story by E. Chetvergov «Sweet Wormwood».
Objective: to research the individual-author’s concept of history and a man, forms of interrelation of reality and personality, alternation of traditional peasant way of life and socio-political changes of the 1930s, the psychological process of self-realization of the personality in the story by E. Chetvergov «Sweet Wormwood».
Research materials: the story of the modern Erzya writer E. Chetvergov «Sweet Wormwood». We used both traditional literary research methods (structural-descriptive, structural-semantic, cultural-historical, comparative) and modern approaches of the humanitarian profile (axiological, hermeneutical). The article also contains an interdisciplinary approach.
Results and novelty of the research: in the article the story by E. Chetvergov «Sweet Wormwood» for the first time becomes the object of scientific reflection. In the course of discussions on the research topic, the authors come to the conclusion that the analyzed work contrasts sharply with the canons of socialist realism; the author refuses to differentiate characters according to social characteristics, assesses their psychological state and moral potential, advocates for the revival of the traditional peasant world order.
Key words: E. Chetvergov, story, concept, history, personality, the era of collectivization, reflection.
