ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article analyses the origin, structure and functioning of dendronymic vocabulary in the Mordovian languages, since they represent the significant part of the Mordovian languages vocabulary. The authors consider the names of trees, shrubs of the Moksha and Erzya languages, and related objects of nomination. In particular, special attention is given to the dendronymic vocabulary of the Mordovian languages formed during the period of independent development of the Moksha and Erzya languages.
Objective: to identify the origin of dendronymic vocabulary (time and source), taking into account their structure and functioning in the Moksha and Erzya languages, as well as the denotative features of the vocabulary.
Research materials: dendronymic vocabulary of the Mordovian languages and the related.
Results and novelty of the research: the authors of the article have identified more than 120 dendronyms and related nominations from various sources (such as spelling dictionaries, Russian-Moksha, Moksha-Russian, Russian-Erzya, Erzya- Russian dictionaries, including specialized dictionaries); have determined origin of the dendronyms and their structure; have identified features of their use in the Moksha and Erzya languages. In the result, it was found that the Mordovian dendronymic vocabulary had been developed during many millennia. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the dendronymic vocabulary of the Mordovian languages has been analyzed for the first time.
Key words: dendroflora, shrubs, trees, Moksha language, Erzya language, Proto-Mordovian languages, Proto-Uralic language, Proto-Finno-Ugric language, Volga language, Proto-Permian language.
