ABSTRACT
Introduction: the subject of the analysis of the article is descriptive text as one of the functional-semantic types of speech (FSTS).
Objective: to consider descriptions as forms of speech serving for image of states of reality with a detailed listing of a number of simultaneously existing objects and their attributes, revealing of its types, defining of its role in artistic text.
Research materials: the works of the national writer of Mordovia K. G. Abramov.
Results and novelty of the research: relevance of the themes is determined by the fact that functionalsemantic types of speech are not enough studied in Finno-Ugric linguistics. As a result of the research we’ve analyzed one of the functional-semantic types, namely, descriptive texts; revealed (on the nature of the rhematic components of statements) their main types; identified their role in the artistic text.
The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that it first introduces detailed analysis of descriptive texts, defines their types and functions in the material of the works by K. G. Abramov. It was revealed that the most common are the descriptive texts with qualitative and substantive rhemes. Less common descriptive texts are the texts with rheme of dynamic state and almost non-existent descriptive texts are the texts with impressive rheme. During creating of description the most important are objects, properties, and qualities, but not actions. Therefore, the main semantic load is usually carried by nouns and adjectives.
Key words: artistic text, functional-semantic type of speech, text-description, object of description, types of text-description.
