The evolution of the paradigm of the Erzya language definite declension through demonstrative pronouns

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article presents the results of studying of the role of demonstrative pronouns in the grammatical system of the Erzya language. The analysis of dialect material reflects the diversity of morphemes of definiteness in case paradigms of singular, which indicates the absence of a single system cases of demonstrative declension in the Erzya dialect area.
Objective: to determine the role of demonstrative pronouns in developing of the postpositive definiteness morphemes and to identify the features of the internal structure of demonstrative declension paradigms in the Erzya language dialects.
Research materials: the article was prepared on the basis of the field materials collected by the authors during language expeditions both in the territory of the Republic of Mordovia and in the areas of large Erzya people populations outside the Republic of Mordovia.
Results and novelty of the research: the scientific novelty of the study consists in the comprehensive analysis of the paradigms of the noun demonstrative declension in the Erzya dialect area. The field material demonstrates that the realization of definiteness morphemes in case paradigms in different dialects of the Erzya language is not uniform. Four models of demonstrative declension paradigms have been found. The presented models reflect the evolution of demonstrative pronouns into different definiteness morphemes, which reflect the internal structure of the Erzya language dialect paradigms. The development of these paradigms in different dialects was the same, but the morphemes of definiteness and the ways of their development were different.
