Abstract.The article considers the specifics of development of modern poetic system of Mordovia. Attention is paid to the tendency of the modern poets to the synthesis of generic and genre forms. Based on the theory of «romanization» (M. M. Bakhtin), the authors of the article come to conclusion about the dominance in modern poetic process of Mordovia such large genre forms as a book of poems. Analyzing the book by K. Smorodin «The second breath» (2016) the researchers represent the idea about meta-genre nature of this edition, which contains ballads, letters, lyrical cycles. Full analysis of the book of poems allows talking about its elaborate architectonics, presence of cross-cutting images and motifs, visual ties, about the features of its title complex. Process of the analysis proves that «The second breath» by K. Smorodin is the «final» book of poems, where the motif of farewell with the past becomes the plot-forming basis. The past of the poet is associated with the happy moments of childhood, boyhood and youth. But the most precious thing that remains for him in the past is the great love of two hearts. Its loss caused by death of the dearest and close for a poet person – his wife. The authors of the article prove the presence of the biographical origin in the image of the lyrical hero of K. Smorodin. The analysis allows demonstrating not only peculiarities of the creative manner of an individual author, but to identify the ways of development of
the genre system of modern poetry of Mordovia in the whole.
