Formation of ethno-cultural competence of students among the indigenous peoples of the North in the conditions of boarding schools (on the example of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra)

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article is devoted to the study of one of the aspects of the functioning of the regional component in the education system, namely, the formation of ethno-cultural competence of students among the indigenous peoples of the North. Formation of ethno-cultural competence of students among the Khanty, Mansi, and Nenets peoples is an important condition for the organization of the educational process, which is based on the traditional knowledge of the titular ethnic groups of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra.
Objective: to identify the main directions of the formation of ethno-cultural competence of students among the indigenous peoples of the North in boarding schools of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra.
Research materials: sociological data obtained among students of educational organizations with boarding schools.
Results and novelty of the research: for the first time on the territory of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra, a sociological study was conducted on the formation of ethno-cultural competence of students among the indigenous peoples of the North in boarding schools. The results of the study show that in educational institutions with boarding schools, in the system of basic education based on extracurricular activities, various forms of work organization are provided and used, taking into account the ethno-cultural component. The network of classes outside of school lessons is organized in the areas of general cultural, sports and recreation, and ethno-cultural education. Educational and extracurricular activities allow taking into account the needs of students among the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North, aimed at the formation of ethno-cultural competence. The study of the native language by students (Khanty, Mansi, Nenets) takes place at lessons and in extracurricular time. Students can demonstrate their language competence at the Olympiad in their native language and literature. They can apply their knowledge, develop personal, creative, and athletic qualities in various circles on decorative and applied arts and traditional crafts, in national sports, in school ethnoclubs and ethnomuseums.
