Results and novelty of the research: L. Terentjeva’s plays are a vivid example of women’s literature. They are devoted to the traditional for this literature theme of family, childhood, and love. The focus of L. Terentjeva’s attention is a woman, her life, relationships with relatives, the world around her, dreams, desires, emotions. The dramatist’s plays reflect the gender relations of the late XX century; they depict the aspirations of some heroines to personal self-realization, for a radical change in their lives, attempts to escape from everyday problems. Other heroines desire to arrange a family life, to preserve the family hearth. During the period of socio-political changes, especially at the turn of the XX–XXI centuries, it was the institution of the family that was subjected to various kinds of difficulties, including destruction. Her plays are evidence of the renewal of the scenic literature of the Komi region, the desire of the dramaturgy of the region to develop new themes, characters, genres. The problems of women’s fate raised by the writer in the modern world harmoniously enter the dramaturgy of the Komi Republic in the future, already in the XXI century, contributing to the development of this theme in the works of other
authors of the region – N. Kuratova, E. Kozlova, N. Obrezkova, V. Lekanova. Their plays also addressed the problem of a woman. In the context of Finno-Ugric literature, some parallels are observed between the plays of L. Terentjeva and the dramaturgical works of the Mordovian writer V. Mishanina.
Key words: dramaturgy of the Komi Republic, Lyubov Terentjeva, women’s literature, gender, theme of family, theme of childhood, system of women’s characters, melodrama
