ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article is devoted to the forms and methods of studying Sámi literature in educational institutions of the Murmansk region in the classroom, extracurricular activities and electives. The relevance of non-traditional approaches to its teaching along with
traditional ones is noted. The author’s developments of non-traditional forms of studying ethnic literature are proposed.
Objective: to substantiate the possibility of using various forms and methods of studying Sámi literature in the conditions of a modern school.
Research materials: the experience of Murmansk region literature teachers in studying Sámi literature, and works by Sámi writers.
Results and novelty of the research: Sámi literature as a subject is not presented in the working program of a general education school, nevertheless, the need to get acquainted with it is justified by the Law on Education of the Russian Federation, the Federal State Educational Standard, and regional studies in the field of literary local history. Since the methodology of teaching the literature of the indigenous smallnumbered people of the North is still in the process of formation, the relevance of the conducted research is beyond doubt. The results of these studies can serve as the basis for educational and methodological materials for schools, gymnasiums, and universities. The novelty of this research lies in the proposed author’s designs of a board game, a visual novel, and an intellectual quiz called “My Own Game,” which are designed to study the works of Sámi authors. The authors of the article conclude that the use of non-traditional forms of studying ethnic literature increases students’ motivation to read the works of Sámi writers, helps to foster an interest in Sámi culture, and is an effective means of overcoming cultural barriers.
Key words: Sámi literature, game technologies, teaching methods, literary games
