ABSTRACT
Introduction: mass digitalization is the main driver of modern civilization development. It influences all aspects of society life transforming both means and contexts of communication and also creating new forms of socialization, inculturation and individual self-identification. All these tendencies result in the language changes.
Objective: is to outline the typical features of the digitalization processes influence upon Finno-Ugric languages functioning in the Russian Federation.
Research materials: the empirical basis of the study is a variety of Internet platforms, social networks, open databases related to the development of Finno-Ugric languages and cultures.
Results and novelty of the research: digitalization processes have a certain impact on the functioning of Finno-Ugric languages in modern conditions: a) create new opportunities for the development of national languages and their study due to systemic changes in information technologies; b) contribute to the change of communication mechanisms. These trends, in turn, become triggers of transformational processes in the structure of specific minority languages. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that for the first time the characteristic features of the influence of digitalization processes on the development of Finno-Ugric languages have been identified. This can be used in the development of language policy issues of a particular region, as well as in determining the strategy for the development of Finno-Ugric languages of the Russian Federation.
Key words: Finno-Ugric languages, digitalization, web communities, citizen science, educational platforms on Finno- Ugric languages.
