Abstract: The fact that the Erzya people have covered a long historical path of development and brought forward a number of outstanding persons who left the marks on the ethno-cultural space of Russia. It finds wide artistic expression in the works of modern Erzya writers. A notable feature of this process is that it occurs in a variety of genres and genre forms of literary works with the use of a variety of artistic means and techniques of expression of the theme. It allows with sufficient completeness to present an objective picture of the historical reality, the picturesque scenes of national life, to deepen the ontological and epistemological sense of the works. Often, the centers of the writers’ creativity are the best representatives of their people as representation of national talents, abilities and resilience, who have left bright marks in national history since the time of their earliest ancestors. Modern Erzya literature reflects actual historical events of different periods of life of the people, all tragic elements and beauty of the nation historical path. The artistic representation of the concrete historical content of a particular stage in the life of the people is realized on this basis, as well as it the tragedy and the beauty of its historical path.
