 Abstract. The article presents the history of archeological researches of Surgut Ob from the end of XIX c. to the beginning of 90-s years of XX century. The first stage (the end of XIX – the first half of XX-th century) is characterized by the process of the initial accumulation of sources and knowledge about the antiquities of Surgut Ob. The first steps in the researches of this territory were made by amateur archaeologists and travelers. Geography of the archeological investigations was limited to the territory of the area Barsov Mountain and the significant sites on the rivers Ob and Big Salym. On the second stage (1960 - beginning of 90-s years of XX century) as a result of initiate oil and gas development there is a geographic expansion of the archeological researches, increase in the number of the revealed significant sites and as a consequence - the accumulation of a wide range of archaeological sources.
