ABSTRACT
Introduction: one of the urgent problems of modern philological science is the study of the influence of the cultural environment on the formation of the views and idiostyle of writers and poets. It is interesting in this respect to consider the influence of Hungarian literature and culture on the work of the famous Slovak writer P. O. Gvezdoslav. Understanding the reasons for the emergence in the works of art of the author of those or other motifs will more deeply penetrate into the essence of his artistic views, to describe the main components of his artistic picture of the world.
Objective: to study the causes and extent of the influence of the Hungarian culture on the formation of the literary talent of P. O. Gvezdoslav.
Research materials: the works of art by P. O. Gvezdoslav, his memories, the memories of his contemporaries, as well as an analysis of hitherto unpublished handwritten originals of P. O. Gvezdoslav, which are stored in the Literary Archives of the Slovak National Library in the city of Martin (Slovakia). Results and novelty of the research: as a result of the study, the causes and extent of the influence of the Hungarian culture on the work of the Slovak writer P.O. Gvezdoslav were analyzed. The role of the biographical factor in the development of the artistic system of his works was considered. The scientific novelty of the work is determined by the fact that for the first time the influence of Hungarian writers on the poetry of P. O. Gvezdоslav becomes the subject of a special analysis. The study of the Hungarian manuscripts of the early works of the writer is the first experience of understanding of the artistic nature of the analyzed poems, in which a more complete picture of the ideological and artistic originality and aesthetic potential of the writer is born.
Key words: P. O. Gvezdoslav, Slovak writer, Hungarian culture, artistic texts.
