ABSTRACT
Introduction: in recent years, there has been renewed interest in studying the intonation of the indigenous peoples of Siberia and the Far East, but the intonation of the language of the Baraba Tatars and the Surgut dialect of the Khanty language remains undescribed.
Objective: to study of the intonation of the imperative utterances of the Baraba-Tatar and Khanty (Surgut dialect) languages by experimental-phonetic methods and to compare the results obtained with data on related languages of the Siberian region.
Research materials: recordings of the oral speech of the speakers of the idioms in question, as well as published data on other Ob-Ugrian and Turkic languages and dialects of Siberia.
Results and novelty of the research: the results of the investigation showed that in most languages under consideration, imperative (request and order) intonation is characterized by falling or rising-falling fundamental frequency changes, while the tonal peak and intensity peaks are realized within the utterance in different ways depending on the language. Common to all the idioms considered is the marking of a negative particle by tone and/or intensity. Such a study was conducted for the first time on the material of the Baraba and Khanty (Surgut dialect) languages.
Key words: intonation, imperative subjunctive, Baraba-Tatar language, Surgut dialect of the Khanty language, Turkic languages, Ob-Ugric languages
