Abstract:In the article we analyzed the defi nitions of words from the category of everyday life in several parts of A.M. Sengepov’s book “Kasum iki putrat”. The book written in the Kazym dialect of the Khanty language (in English: “Stories of an old Khanty man”). The basic idea of the article: genre-wise this book is rather original, since the author’s own text is combined with folklore material (several parts of the author’s text represent interpretations on social-political topics). In the folklore texts both the lexicon of everyday life and obsolete words (archaisms) were used. The parts of the text with socio-political (public) character include a certain amount of neologisms; also some of the originally Khanty words are reinterpreted and new meanings are added.
Keywords: lexicon of everyday life, thematic groups, lexicon of the art text, folklore text, socio- political lexicon, Kazym dialect, Khanty language.
