ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article discusses the methods of actualization of art crafts based on the experience of the Scientific Research Institute of the Art Industry on the example of Finno-Ugric crafts: Upper Vychegda painting and Komi patterned knitting.
Objective: to reveal the actual experience of work of the Scientific Research Institute of the Art Industry on actualization of folk art crafts.
Research materials: materials of scientific works and expeditions of the Scientific Research Institute of Art Industry from the archive of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Art, the Album “Folk Art of the Komi-Zyryan people”.
Results and novelty of the research: for the first time, the crafts of Upper Vychegda painting and Komi patterned knitting were analyzed according to the Institute’s methodology; their artistic system was described; their stabilizing elements were identified, which will allow creating handicraft items adapted to modern conditions and preserving cultural heritage.
