ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article is devoted to the examination of the thematic range and artistic features of the works of the Udmurt writer Ye. Zagrebin, written in the miniature genre. The work actualizes the genre approach to the study of Udmurt literature, making it possible to further trace the development of the miniature and its role in the genre enrichment of the national literary process.
Objective: to identify the ideological and aesthetic features of the miniature genre in the works of Ye. Zagrebin; to reveal the uniqueness of
his literary individuality.
Research materials: miniatures by Ye. Zagrebin included in his collections.
Results and novelty of the research: the article examines for the first time the genre components of Ye. Zagrebin’s prose miniatures. It concludes that the writer has developed a new genre model in Udmurt short fiction, enriching national literature with new forms. The results of the study show that a characteristic feature of Zagrebin’s miniatures is the author’s position, when he appears as a narrator, personally observing the world around him, and, at the same time, participating in the plot, appearing in the text. However, Ye. Zagrebin has miniatures where the central character is not identical to the author. Most of Zagrebin’s miniatures are distinguished by the predominance of landscape descriptions. In an effort to depict the sensations and experiences of a person when in contact with the natural world, the writer achieves depth in revealing his internal psychological state.
