Multicomponent complex sentences in the modern Udmurt language

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article considers the features of the structure and functions of multicomponent complex sentences used in the fiction of the modern Udmurt language. The analysis includes the study of various elements of such sentences and their relationships. Attention is also focused on how these constructions help authors convey their thoughts and emotions, as well as how they affect readers’ perception of the text.
Objective: to determine the types and frequency of occurrence of multicomponent complex sentences in the novel by G. K. Perevoshchikov “Tӧdjy Kuaka”.
Research materials: the novel by G. K. Perevoshchikov “Tӧdjy Kuaka” and texts from the National Corpus of the Udmurt language.
Results and novelty of the research: the scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that for the first time, based on the material of fiction, the features of the functioning of multicomponent complex sentences of the modern Udmurt language were studied: various formulations, the frequency of their use, the factors of using the studied complex constructions in the artistic style of speech. As a result of the research, it was revealed that the following types of multicomponent complex sentences are represented in the literary text of the modern Udmurt language: 1) with consistent subordination; 2) with subordination (homogeneous and heterogeneous); 3) with mixed subordination. Multicomponent complex sentences with homogeneous subordination dominate among them (38.9%). Based on the novel by G. K. Perevoshchikov “Tӧdjy Kuaka” the frequency of occurrence of the studied constructions with several components was also investigated, as a result of which the prevalence of threecomponent complex sentences (62.6%) was revealed.
