Abstract.The article considers the activity of the Khanty-Mansiysk Diversified union of cooperative societies and its role in the organization of the trade cooperation in the North of Western Siberia. On the basis of a wide range for the first time introduced into scientific circulation sources the author dwells on cultural and educational activities of cooperative societies. It describes the forms and methods of work, resulting in the available statistics. On the basis of archival documents, the socio-cultural activities of one central cooperative unions of the Okrug – Khanty-Mansiysk Diversified union – was shown for the first time. It is concluded that the trade cooperation in the areas of the Ob North had to overcome difficulties in its work and actively participated in the social and cultural work. Using various forms and methods of the cultural and educational activities, trade cooperation managed to organize a wide network with its cultural organizations. This problematics relates to issues of history, economics, sociology and culture.
