The phenomenon of female deities in the Middle Ob Khanty culture (a problem statement)

Abstract. The article is devoted to the description of historical processes which happened in the territory of the Lower Ob through the main female deities of the Middle Ob Khanty. Comparisons with other local female deities showed ongoing transformations in the territory of residence of the Ob-Ug-ric peoples in the course of historical development. Middle Ob goddesses Un Kattas and Ai-Kattas in accordance with the proposed understanding of transformations reflect an unfinished merging process with the preservation of their functions.
