Poetic world of the Finnish author Rosa Liksom and the Udmurt prose writer Rimma Ignatyeva: similar and specific features

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article focuses on the similar and specific features of the works by the Finnish author Rosa Liksom and the Udmurt prose writer Rimma Ignatyeva who are engaged in literary creativity since the 80-ies of XX century and actively continue their creative activities at the present time.
Objective: to analyze in comparative key the problematics and the ways of its artistic embodiment, typology of characters and the manner of their depiction in Rosa Liksom’s and Rimma Ignatyeva’s prose; to reveal the similarities and specifics of their works.
Research materials: the story-novellas of Rosa Liksom from the books «Yhden Yön Pysäkki» («A Stop At Night»), «Tyhjän Tien Paratiisit» («The Paradise Of Empty Roads») and the stories and novels of Rimma Ignatyeva «S’elyklen Jemyshez» («The Fruit Of The Sin»), «Bubyli» («The Butterfly»).
Results and novelty of the research: for the first time the works of the Finnish writer Rosa Liksom and the Udmurt prose writer Rimma Ignatyeva are compared. It was found hat for the creativity of the two authors is characterized by the closeness of problematics and types of characters caused by the change of gender roles and the crisis of masculinity in society in the end of XX century. The specific features of the writers’ creative style revealed through the manner of writing and the use of stylistic devices as well as their interpretation of the problems are primarily due to the differences of cultural cognitive patterns and sociocultural practices as well as the traditions of the world literature reception. Rosa Liksom’s post-modernist consciousness is expressed via destruction of the basic principles of life, including femininity and masculinity, absence of optimistic prospects in the characters’ lives. In her works the dominant feature of both time and space is emptiness. In Rimma Ignatyeva’s works the world is depicted realistically; the phenomena, events and characters are socially and historically determined; her prose is aimed at conveying the reality through true-to-life approach. Nevertheless, despite the differences in the writers’ artistic properties and manners of writing, both authors’ works are characterized by empathy to the lives of the marginal characters.
