ABSTRACT
Introduction: the description and characterization of pronouns of Permian languages in the scientific literature is given quite close attention, which, of course, is due to their high distribution in speech. It should be noted that pronouns are a set of words that do not have a common opinion about their status in languages. Differences among linguists are observed both on questions about the volume of the class of pronouns, and about its attribution to a separate part of speech. When describing pronouns, first of all, the general character of their semantics is that they do not name the object, its properties, but indicate them, i.e. they are deictic words. So the question about the status and components of possessive pronouns in a number of languages, including the Udmurt, is relevant: some
scientists recognize the presence of a separate category of possessive pronouns, others consider indirect forms (forms of genitive and separative cases) of various categories of personal and non-personal groups of pronouns.
Objective: to consider the features of possessive pronouns in the system of pronouns of the Udmurt language and identify their main taxonometric characteristics.
Research materials: texts by Udmurt writers and poets written between 1960s and 2000s.
Results and novelty of the research: the work contains the first experience of systematic description of all possible cases of possessive pronoun formation and delineation of their grammar characteristics. New linguistic data, which can be used as additional resources for the comparative and typological research of languages with different structures, is introduced into academic circulation.
Key words: Udmurt, morphology of the Udmurt language, pronouns, possessive pronouns, determinative and demonstrative suffix.
