Sami Folklore Syllabus

Abstract. The syllabus was based on the curriculum approved by the Ministry of Education of the RSFSR, 1987, and was taught by the author on the faculty of the peoples of the Far North, Herzen LGPI. The course consisted of the following topics: «Introduction», «Marx and Engels on Folk Art», «Lenin on Folk Art», «Classification of folklore genres», «Features of the folklore of primitive society», «History of the collection and study of Sami folklore», «Generic structures in Sami folklore», «Myths», «Fairytales», «Legends (sakka)», «Ritual folklore», «Songs», «Proverbs and Riddles», «Tales», «Urban legends», «Oral stories», «Children’s folklore», «Methods of collection, processing and systematization of folk material». The Sami Folklore Syllabus is currently a historical document of the academic course of the Soviet period.
