The author explicates the issues of temporal narrative real and conditional situations; different variations of relationship between the time of narration, tools of simulation of temporal chronotope, which in the literary work are due to individual author’s values, the concept of a man and the universe. The problems actualized in the article fit into the context of modern Finno-Ugric literary criticism.
Objective: to study the methods and means of creation of temporal chronotope, models of temporal situations in novel experiments of E. Chetvergov.

A complex of traditional literary research methods (structural and descriptive, structural and semantic), correlating with modern approaches of the humanitarian profile (axiological, hermeneutical) were used in the work as well as the interdisciplinary approach.

In the course of discussions on the research topic, the authors come to the conclusion that the prose writer models various temporal layers (present, past, future, perceptual, timeless), while operating with realistic and conditional means of figurativeness (temporal shifts, deviations, disturbance of the real course of events, dream, manifestation of mythological paintings), which together allows him to represent the original author’s concept of the universe and man.
Key words: E. Chetvergov, chronotope, artistic time, time continuum, author’s conception.
