The social portrait of a native speaker of the Ob-Ugric languages (on the results of sociological research in Oktyabrsky District of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra)

Abstract:The article is an attempt of drawing up a social portrait of a native speaker in the first time. The aim of this work is to analyze the influence of socio-demographic characteristics of the Ob Ugrians of the Oktyabrsky District on the knowledge of the ethnic language. The object of study is the group of native speakers of Khanty and Mansi languages. The subject of the article is their social characteristics. The relevance lies in the unresolved problems of preservation of languages of indigenous peoples of Yugra. The novelty of the article lies in the lack of coverage in scientific literature factors of their savings. The analyzed material obtained by the author in 2015 in rural settlements of Oktyabrsky District. According to the field methods of research – frontal and individual questionnaires, interviews – there were 100 people from among the indigenous minorities of the North interviewed. The article shows the level of their language competence in the ethnic language, the study of the functioning of the Khanty and Mansi languages in the area. The work considers correlations between linguistic competence and age, education, occupation, internal psychological attitude to native languages. The work concluded that at the present time in the Oktyabrsky District the main social characteristics, contributing to the preservation of the languages of the titular ethnic groups of Yugra are: living in a compact ethnic environment, belonging to a group of middle and older age, the presence ofsecondary or secondary special education, positive loyalty to the language of their ethnic group.
