ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article is devoted to the study of traditional images of natural realities – earth, water, and sky – and their representation in the lyrical works of the Sami poets O. Voronova and A. Bazhanov. The subject of consideration is the space of the Kola North, presented in various artistic images, as well as the methods of their creation.
Objective: to reveal the common and different in representation of images of northern nature in the works of the first Sami poets.
Research materials: collections of poems by O. V. Voronova and A. A. Bazhanov.
Results and novelty of the research: the diverse range of themes and styles makes the work of Sami poets an important part of Russia’s cultural context and allows for a deeper understanding of the worldview of the indigenous people of the Kola Peninsula. Our analysis of the works of O. V. Voronova and A. A. Bazhanov showed that one of the main themes of their works is the theme of nature, which can be interpreted as the theme of the Home in its philosophical sense. For every Sami, home is the natural world that surrounds him from birth. In the House-Nature, everything is not only native, but also comprehensive, because the Sami does not think of himself as anything other than a part of nature, in no way separated from it. The scientific novelty of the article is due to the fact that for the first time, using a large amount of literary material, it examines the spatial images of the Kola North in the lyrics of two Sami poets in a comparative aspect. Despite similar reflections on their small homeland, the nature of the Arctic, and the problem of preserving the traditions and identity of their people, the uniqueness of each poet’s work is obvious.
Key words: Sami, space of the Kola North, Sami poets, landscape images, landscape context, thematic groups
