Abstract:In article analyzes an etymological and historical emergence and use of concepts compulsory migration, deportation, eviction. The author defines a place of compulsory migration in the general classification of migratory processes. In the article marked out the main features of deportation in the USSR. The author notes the historic facts defining circumstances of receiving in the USSR of the status a special immigrant, the special settler. The factors which influenced the compelled migration in the USSR during the periods with 1930 to the middle of the 1950th are defined.
