Abstract. The article considers travel notes and geographical descriptions of the town of Berezovo for more than a hundred years of its history. The information presented in these works contains elements of historiographical analysis. Describing of the city face in historical retrospect was based on the use of written documentary sources and the historical memory of the townspeople. It was done thanks to the culture-bearing activity of the external observers. Researchers at different times evaluated differently past and present of the town of Berezovo.
