ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article is devoted to the analysis of scientific activity of the well-known Komi folklorist Yu. G. Rochev. During the period of his work, he significantly expanded the territory of his searches. The Komi Republic has long been the region of interethnic relations and contacts. Yu. G. Rochev was interested in folklore traditions of the Komi-Izhma people living outside their native ethnic group and they have been experienced some impact of Samodian and Ugric folklore. The study of creative contacts between neighboring nations is the actual task. The concrete results of identifying of creative interrelations are important.
Objective: to analyze the scientific searches of Yu. G. Rochev on the basis of his studies of folklore of the KomiZyrians, the Komi-Izhma people; to analyze the uniqueness and peculiarities of local traditions revealed by him, as well as the interrelations of traditional genres of geographically close, but ethnically different cultures that have for a long time been in close contact with the Nenets, Khanty and Mansi people.
Research materials: the article uses records of folklore texts with Yu. G. Rochev’s personal records stored in the Scientific Archive of the Komi Science Centre of the Ural Branch of the RAS, as well as the personal fund (F. 27) containing expedition reports, field diaries, family archive provided by S. N. Rocheva, the widow of Yu. G. Rochev.
Results and novelty of the research: for the first time the ways of searches of the scientist in the context of folklore traditions of different ethnic interactions are considered.
